From 90% illiteracy in the 1930s to 90% receiving an education in 2015, Arab girls and women are more educated than ever. Today, in some countries like the United Arab Emirates, more young women than men are graduating from university. Yet, for most of the region, it is an unfinished agenda. Millions of girls remain out of school, while young women graduating from university are not reaping the benefit of their education. In fact, similar trends exist in other regions as well.

This will only begin to change if we recognize that unlocking the potential of girls and women is to embrace healthier, more prosperous and peaceful societies. In this session, we will gain first-hand knowledge from an expert in education, who will discuss girls’ education and the transition to the workplace with takeaways on how we can all contribute to empowering girls and women to succeed no matter what region of the world you come from.
