Countless inspirations fill the artist’s memory, although some were more present, more prominent and inseparable to his memory; as present as those deep human experiences that mark our lives forever.

With the passage of time, Abdel Aziz recollected those influences and their impact on his artistic interpretations. The process of capturing those influences, turned into a rich and exciting experience. It would not be an exaggeration to say that some works were so delicate, so sensitive that they have transformed his inner aesthetic world.

That is why his experience is called “Passages” – the passages traversed by one’s visual memory. Passages that leave an influence that can be captured and customized in a unique way characteristic of the artist’s own experience.

His experience is still in search of untraveled “Passages”.

The exhibition will continue until Sunday May 22, 2011.

Abdel Aziz Ashour was born in 1962 in the traditional part of Jeddah. Like many Saudi artists, he has combined his career as an artist with steady job and for the past twenty-five years has worked as an employee at the Ministry of Energy. His job had a major influence on his artistic production such as use of circuit boards, CD’s and wires on canvas. In 2009 Ashour started working as a full time artist for the first time. He participated in Edge of Arabia exhibition in London in 2008 where he showed two acrylic works on canvas of large format, and in Edge of Arabia at the 2009 Venice Biennial. His work was sold at Christie’sDubai in 2009.
