34 Singaporean students visit UAE to study local history, culture, politics, economic climate and advancements

Dubai Business Women Council (DBWC) has recently hosted a group of 34 business and engineering students from Nanyang Technological University of Singapore to discuss key issues related to the contributions of women in promoting social and economic development. The students are visiting the UAE as part of a Middle East study tour wherein they will be exploring the history, culture, politics, economic climate and advancements made in the UAE.

DBWC further revealed that it has organised a special activity focusing on “Women in the UAE” as part of the itinerary of the visiting students. The topics discussed during the meeting included existing constitutional and legal protection for women; political participation of women; women in the workforce; women & education; businesswomen and entrepreneurs; women’s organizations; and the role of Emirati women in putting the UAE on the path of progress and prosperity.

Raja Al Gurg, President, Dubai Business Women Council, said: “Dubai Business Women Council actively reaches out to organisations in the UAE and from other countries to conduct a healthy exchange of ideas and promote cultural understanding. Our meeting with students from Nanyang Technological University gave us an opportunity to share our experiences on promoting greater participation of women in the social and economic transformation of the society. We are certainly pleased with the outcome of our discussions and we hope to conduct similar activities in the future.”

Nanyang Technological University is an internationally reputed research-intensive tertiary institution.
