DBWC workshop aids members to ‘Own Your Space’

E Treanor Media hosts session on essential guides to effective communication

Dubai, UAE, 22 May 2016 - The Dubai Business Women Council (DBWC), hosted a workshop on essential guides to effective communication, titled “Own Your Space”. The session was facilitated by Eithne Treanor, Founder and Managing Director of E Treanor Media.

The half day workshop increased the DBWC members’ confidence when speaking in public and provided tips on how to engage with an audience, inform them of the right message, how to educate them with the facts and inspire them to listen, absorb and take action – the formula of how to ‘Own Your Space.’

“Effective communication is essential to your business, particularly in this economical climate,” said HE Dr. Raja Easa Saleh Al Gurg, President of DBWC. “Top management and entrepreneurs often have to address the media and stakeholders which is why it is crucial to have good communication skills which enables you to control the situation and influence people positively.

According to Maslow, people want to be charming and charismatic which is a natural instinct, rooted in our psy our psychological desire to belong.

“You only get one chance to make a great first impression,” said Eithne. “Owning your space is extremely important, especially for women in the workplace who struggle to make their voice and opinions heard. Through effective communication skills, career progression and relations can excel while it also aids in effective problem solving situations.”

To uncover the trends, Eithne dove deep into research and studies of behavioral psychology. To transform from awkward and shy, to charming everyone you meet, she shares the following nine habits of likable and charismatic people

tips:

  1. They are humble
  2. They are vulnerable
  3. They have a sense of humor
  4. They are present
  5. They are genuinely interested in EVERYONE
  6. They avoid social narcissism
  7. They are generous and altruistic
  8. They reciprocate praise (and take blame)

When you have engaged your audience, informed them of your message, educated them with the facts and inspired them to action, you then own your space.
