There’s a way to restart your startup

DBWC Network Majlis explore how startups can reignite its operations

Dubai, UAE, 16 September 2015 - The Dubai Business Women Council (DBWC), the official representative organization for business women, both professionals and entrepreneurs, in the Emirate of Dubai, provided its members, who own startups, with an essential workshop on how to restart its operations and reignite its core objectives to assist in reaching its planned goals.

The session, which was hosted by Genny Ghanimeh, and Soushiant Zanganehpour, focused on the crucial phase of every startup when founders pause and reflect on the current situation of the business and whether it is in line with its initial plans. Furthermore, the importance of re-evaluating the business proposition to ensure it meets market demands to ensure its competitive advantage.

“This is a very interesting topic as entrepreneurs often forget to take a step back to evaluate their business and to match it with their initial plan, goals and prospects,” said HE Dr. Raja Easa Saleh Al Gurg, President of DBWC. “Keeping a startup profitable and in lucrative momentum is a very challenging task and with today’s session, we have experts who are providing our members with sound advice on how they can take their businesses to the next level through simple measures.”

The workshop guided the DBWC members to asses their current state of business and to compare it to its original mission. Next, members were asked to determine how sustainable the business model is, how it supports customer acquisition, how attractive it is to investors, what the value of your personnel is and how a startup can be restarted to match its potential.

The panel of experts also provided insight on how founders can develop their mental resilience and toughness to help make more prudent personal and professional decisions.

Genny founded Pi Slice in March 2012 and negotiated a partnership agreement with MicroWorld from the Group PlanetFinance to build and administer the first microlending online platform in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA).

Soushiant is the Strategy and Operational Advisor at TriBeCa Consulting Group (Private Advisory) where he helps impact driven entrepreneurs survive and grow past the start-up phase and advises mission-driven foundations and multinationals to build products and programmes that integrate financial growth with social impact, as well as measure and communicate outcomes.
