DBWC President wins International Alliance for Women Award

Raja Easa Al Gurg, President of Dubai Business Women Council and the Vice President of Easa Saleh Al Gurg Group, has won the "The International Alliance for Women" Award in a ceremony held in Toronto, Canada on 19th October 2009.The nomination of Mrs. Al Gurg came among the selection of 100 distinct women around the world who have contributed to the economic empowerment of women.

Commenting on receiving this international award, Al Gurg said that she was pleased with this achievement which highlights the important status of Emirati business woman, and that this award is an encouragement to continue her career in support of women in general and businesswomen in particular and to spur them forward to better prospects of the future.

She also confirmed that this is a recognition on the merit of the Emarati Business woman UAE, who has made great strides towards excellence and innovation in light of the strong support of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

"Emarati woman is actively seeking to make greater achievements on her record and develop in various fields; particularly that she has the potential and qualifications that enable her to do so, since the conditions are ripe for her to conduct activities within an appropriate environment and under supportive legislation and the laws,'' she added.

Al Gurg urged the UAE businesswomen to persevere and break into more areas in the business world and connect with organizations and international institutions that are working to consolidate the status of women in various countries of the world, and in order for her to serve her country and fulfill her ambition at the same time.

The International Alliance for Women is an international umbrella organization of women's networks representing more than 50,000 women world wide whose mission is the economic empowerment of women, whether it is women in microenterprise in the developing world or women seeking board governance roles in the world's business capitals. Last year, TIAW created a special award, the TIAW World of Difference 100, to honor up to 100 women from around the world who have contributed to the economic empowerment of women in keeping with the TIAW mission. The International Alliance for Women received tremendous nominations from six continents and more than 20 countries around the world.
