The Talkshop session discusses how to deal with challenging people in your life while Polar Bear hosts last Network Majlis on how to extend your reach through LinkedIn

Dubai, UAE, 11 December 2014 - The Dubai Business Women Council (DBWC), the official representative organization for business women, both professionals and entrepreneurs, in the Emirate of Dubai, concluded 2014 with two events this week. Linda Sakr and Hoda Barakat from The Talk Shop hosted a session on 8 December on "Dealing with challenging people in your life" while Saman Hamidi from Polar Bear hosted the last Network Majlis workshop for 2014 today on "Using LinkedIn to extend your reach".

"This year has been a phenomenal year for the DBWC and we are extremely grateful for the positive outcome after a year's hard work," said Mrs. Raja Al Gurg, President of DBWC. "We wanted to end the year on a high note which is why we decided to host two events for our members – and two very interesting topics they were! Everywhere you go in life you will come across challenging people and it is important, especially as an entrepreneur and business owner, to know how to deal with these people in order not to burn a relationship or encourage problems. Linda and Hoda painted a beautiful picture of the correct ways on how we should deal with certain situations, especially here in the UAE where we encounter so many different nationalities with unique backgrounds."

Linda Sakr is a UK/UAE licensed Counselling Psychologist and has been associated with the Dubai Community Health Centre since 2006. Hoda has extensive legal experience in the UAE particularly in the fields of IP, IT, Media and other legal sectors. She currently represents the International Trademark Association as Co-Chair of the Middle East Global Advisory Council. The session today was hosted through Talkshop, a Dubai-based venture that aims to provide information, inspiration, motivation and intellectual stimulation and challenges. Through talks, workshops and panel discussions, carefully selected speakers talk and offer information, inspiration and motivation.

"This year we saw how powerful social media can be, especially since we ran Ro'Ya and received tremendous support on our own platforms. Hosting the Network Majlis workshop on LinkedIn was a great way to show our members how they can further grow their network of likeminded peers on a social platform and keep engaging with them to further expand their reach. With a bit of help and guidance from Saman, we hope today's attendees will optimize usage on these platforms as an online presence is crucial in today's competitive markets," added Mrs. Al Gurg.

Saman Hamidi is the Managing Partner at Polar Bear Creative since 2008. Before Polar Bear, Saman sharpened his teeth at BPG, one of the oldest Ad agencies in Dubai. His personal passion for technology and communication have brought him to where he is today, using the internet to achieve better exposure for his clients.

"There is a lot more to Linkedin than just listing your experiences and adding friends. Linkedin can actually be used to increase your business exposure, make connections to potential partners and to sell your product and services," added Saman.

During the workshop Saman discussed the process of creating a Linked in account, creating a company page for a business, adding profile details and experiences, connecting to business contacts and companies and joining groups where you can meet others in your industry who can help you.
