Introduction to the DIFC Courts Wills Service – Online informative session

November 18, 2020

The DIFC Courts is independent, but complimentary to the UAE’s Arab language, civil law system, and located at the core of Dubai’s financial powerhouse. The DIFC Courts administers a unique common law, English language jurisdiction, which governs commercial and civil disputes, national, regionally, and worldwide.

In 2015, the DIFC Courts established an additional ancillary service in the form of the Wills Service, a joint initiative of the Government of Dubai and the DIFC Courts that gives non-Muslims investing and living in the UAE the option to pass on their assets and/or appoint guardians for their children, in accordance with the instructions in their Will. Until we launched this service, without a recognised and enforceable Will, a person’s assets would be divided according to the UAE’s sharia-based law, whether or not they are Muslim.

This informative session was facilitated by Ayesha Bin Kalban , Assistant Registrar & Deputy Small Claims Tribunal Registrar - DIFC Courts and highlighted the Overview of the Wills Service (WS) , Awareness of the terms of use and Awareness of advantages of use and the types of wills available
