When Women Lean In, Economies Win - Empowering women economically bears a major potential for economic growth. Both short and long term effects of women’s economic activities contribute to the economic success of a country and serve to better face global challenges. The positive economic impact of women’s participation in business has been widely acknowledged. Hence, exchanging ideas, experiences and perspectives of leading business women from Germany and the Arab world is an important strategic part of German-Arab business relations and will further boost economic ties between the two regions. 

Held under the Patronage of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, organized by Dr Gabi Kratochwil CrossCultures Network in cooperation with Ghorfa Arab-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry and partners, the  

German-Arab Women Business Leaders Summit, 15-17 October 2018, Bayerischer Hof, Munich, Germany 

will bring together an exclusive gathering of high-ranking women from the Arab countries and Germany, leading female representatives of business and academic communities as well as Ghorfa partners and members from diplomacy and government, international civil society and heads of leading business institutions. The GABWLSummit offers a unique and exciting opportunity to engage with inspiring speakers, to network and share best practice with experts and decision-makers so to devise innovative strategies and to further identify business opportunities.  

Meet Germany’s top businesswomen Janina Kugel (Board Member Siemens), Petra Justenhoven (Partner PwC, Manager of the Year 2017), Ursula Schwarzenbart (Head Global Diversity Management, Daimler) and H.E. Brigitte Zypries (Former Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy). Discuss with representatives from our partnering organizations GIZ, the Association of German Chambers of Commerce and Industry (DIHK), the Association of German Women Entrepreneurs (VdU), KfW, UNIDO and Worldbank.  

During the GABWL-Summit the Ta’awun: German-Arab Women Cooperation of Excellence Award will be presented. This award honours joint German-Arab women’s cooperation projects by recognizing women who play a distinct role in establishing partnerships and connections of excellence between Germany and the Arab countries. Under the motto “Celebrate & Share“, the GAWBL- Charity Gala serves to raise funding for a charitable organization. Luxury German and Arab brands, as AIGNER or KASHIDA, are participating.
