DBWC - DED Strategic Partnership

DBWC-DED Strategic Partnership ... an open platform packed with incentives to enhance businesswomen competitiveness

The strategic partnership, signed last April, between the Dubai Business Women Council (DBWC) and the Department of Economic Development (DED) plays an important role in granting various privileges to the DBWC businesswomen and female entrepreneurs.

The agreement provides numerous services and facilities that will enhance businesswomen's competitiveness in the labor market, and help create a platform to benefit from the incentives offered by the DED and its institutions.

The "Empowering Her" webinar was the first fruit of this agreement followed by a series of joint activities and training programs between both organizations , that will aim to support female entrepreneurs from the DBWC.

The webinar was part of the monthly ‘Market Dialogue’ series being conducted by Dubai Economy to provide an open platform to discuss various topics of interest to the business community. The event highlighted the packages of incentives, services, and benefits that can support all UAE-based businesswomen and entrepreneurs.

As a result of this cooperation, a special fee has been issued to join the Dubai Business Women Council for female trade license holders issued by the DED. For those interested to find out more about this, please contact info@dbwc.ae

Male trade license holders can also avail of this feature by nominating at least one of their female executives or employees to join the Dubai Business Women Council as the representative of their companies to avail and access all the membership benefits.

This includes virtual sessions, various customized training courses,  access to exclusive networking platforms, programs and initiatives to support start-ups such as mentorship programmes, entrepreneurial accelerator and incubator programmes and diversity and inclusion initiatives and best practices.

Among other advantages the DBWC offers its members are access to the Learning & Development Library, exclusive promotional services, exclusive financial and legal consultations, in addition to sharing success stories.

Boosting economic development

Nada Nader, Business Development Manager, Business Registration & Licensing Sector, DED, commended the constant communication between the two sides and the substantial role they play in serving society at large and economic activity in particular.

She added: "Start-ups are one of the key drivers of sustainable social and economic growth. The Emirate of Dubai has strong fundamentals in empowering those companies and through them, the emirate stimulates innovation and boosts economic development.

She continued to say, "The DED Trader License, launched by the Business Registration and Licensing (BRL) sector of Dubai Economy is seeing increased demand by emerging businesses. The DED Trader license enables start-ups in Dubai to conduct business activities online and across social networking accounts."

She highlighted the various advantages offered by this type of license including; enhancing customer confidence, protecting the trade name, and allowing business owners to take part in exhibitions and conferences.

Also, holders of the DED Trader License can avail of bank offers and get a membership of the "Dubai Chamber", which facilitates the process of import and export, and the showcase of products in stores.

Enhancing presence of women in business world

Nadine Halabi, Business Development Manager, DBWC, lauded the fruitful cooperation between the two entities, pointing out this strategic partnership represents one of the Council's endeavors to provide means of support for women in the labor market.

Halabi added: "This stems from the fact that the Council is the official organization representing women and entrepreneurs in Dubai and believes in the importance of raising awareness and making positive change by enhancing the presence of women in the business world.

Halabi noted that the DBWC seeks to empower and motivate women to become active members of society and the economy. To that end, the Council provides all forms of support to Dubai-based businesswomen and female entrepreneurs who are willing to achieve success locally and globally, in order to enhance their contribution to the economy and productivity of the emirate and the UAE at large.

She indicated that the DBWC-DED partnership reflects the keenness of both entities to develop the skills of women wishing to enter the business community and introduce them to the labor market and the foundations of a successful trade, highlighting the efforts being made by both sides to empower women economically, professionally and socially and enhance their position in the workplace.

The most important objectives of the partnership are to provide support to female entrepreneurs from the members of the Council to take them to new heights of development and growth. One effective way to accomplish that is by tapping into the DED’s capabilities and expertise in this regard and its ability to help DBWC members grow further enhance their status, which helps serve the vision and orientations of the UAE and the efforts underway to elevate this vital sector.
