UAE
UAE is a group of seven emirates - Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al-Quwain, Ras Al-Khaimah and Fujairah. UAE was founded on December 2, 1971. Every year the founding day is celebrated as National Day. On this occasion all major cities are illuminated to celebrate the event with gaiety and enthusiasm.
The capital of the UAE is Abu Dhabi, the seat of the federal government, where national decisions are made. Each emirate has its own ruler and has the autonomy to make its own rules. The official language of UAE is Arabic, but other languages, such as English, Hindi, and Urdu are also spoken. The official religion is Islam. Freedom of worship of other faiths is permitted.
His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan was the founder president. After his death on November 2, 2004 his eldest son, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, succeeded to the highest office.
Sheikh Zayed was a great visionary and was responsible for UAE’s stupendous achievements and glory. He was known for his wisdom, hard work, determination, generosity, clear vision and ambition. He was totally devoted and committed to the development of the nation.
UAE maintains cordial relations with all nations of the Gulf Cooperation Council and other countries. It extends full cooperation and support to all friendly countries for the promotion of trade, commerce, infrastructure, technology, education, health services and sports.
